Vodafone Portugal has chosen DigitalRoute's MediationZone to replace existing mediation solutions after a careful evaluation that included a successful proof-of-concept.

“MediationZone stood out as the best technical solution and it received particularly high scores in the areas related to flexibility, usability and processing performance," said Paulo Pereira, manager of IT architecture & strategy at Vodafone Portugal.

The deployment is the first part of a five-phase program at Vodafone Portugal to create a unified mediation layer based on MediationZone. The new solution is expected to speed up the introduction of new services.

“We are pleased with the swiftness and quality of the solution delivery as well as the successful competence transfer," Pereira said. "The cooperation between DigitalRoute, Vodafone Portugal and our outsourced operations, maintenance and development teams has worked perfectly."

MediationZone will have a strategically important role in the IT architecture of Vodafone Portugal as it provides the capability to take full advantage of the usage data in the network while streamlining the data infrastructure.

“We have already enabled new a new set of innovative services with this first phase of our mediation program. One example is a new capability to provide real-time spending control to postpaid subscriptions," added Carlos Fernandes, project manager at Vodafone Portugal.

Together with its partners, DigitalRoute has deployed MediationZone for more than 100 communication service providers in Europe.
